KAMINOSEKI, Yamaguchi - A masked Kiyoko Sakai was among the demonstrators protest against the construction of a nuclear plant here April 26 - the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
"I hope the construction will be canceled while I'm still here," said Sakai, a survivor of 86 years, the atomic bomb, referring to Chugoku Electric Power Co. 's planned Kaminoseki nuclear plants, four miles across Island in the prefecture of Yamaguchi Iwai City Kaminoseki.
From the island Iwai, Sakai worked at an army clothing depot to Hiroshima - about 80 kilometers from Kaminoseki - during the Second World War.It was back in the island Iwai bomb was dropped on Hiroshima August 6, 1945, but was walking in a Hiroshima burned upon his return to work the next day.
