KAMINOSEKI, Yamaguchi - A masked Kiyoko Sakai was among the demonstrators protest against the construction of a nuclear plant here April 26 - the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

"I hope the construction will be canceled while I'm still here," said Sakai, a survivor of 86 years, the atomic bomb, referring to Chugoku Electric Power Co. 's planned Kaminoseki nuclear plants, four miles across Island in the prefecture of Yamaguchi Iwai City Kaminoseki.

From the island Iwai, Sakai worked at an army clothing depot to Hiroshima - about 80 kilometers from Kaminoseki - during the Second World War.It was back in the island Iwai bomb was dropped on Hiroshima August 6, 1945, but was walking in a Hiroshima burned upon his return to work the next day.

Artist Rose O’Neill had her illustrations of the first Kewpie printed in the Ladies Home Journal in 1909. The Kewpie doll's status grew after this. So, after Rose O'Neill finished meeting with the Borgfeldt Company regarding production of the Kewpie doll, Borgfeldt's German affiliates began creating the very first Kewpie bisque dolls. This marked a great change in the material aspect of Kewpie dolls . Rather than bisque, the Americans turned to different types of compounds just like vinyl and composition. Bisque is a relatively costly material, exacerbated by its fragility. A further reason is related to the emergence of a new material to make the dolls from. These reasons gave birth towards the composition Kewpie dolls that have become the most popular products offered by the Cameo Company....
