This is as far as I'm concerned, pure awesome. Every child deserves the kind of love, support and defense of these families are trying to give their children.

Children this age do not include the sex of the way adults do. They do not know what is expected of girls and boys. They are trying furiously to understand, while playing with what they like and dislike for themselves. It's hard enough without any adults to play the gender police.

The key, I believe, is to not jump to conclusions. Your preschooler can be Barbie-loving homosexual, or it could just dig dolls.The little girl who wants a Mohawk could grow to love women, or it might just have an outrageous sense of style. We really can not know. The path from childhood to play the identity of adults is far from a straight line. What children need is to be respected and they are supported at every stage of development.
