LOS ANGELES — The red and black leather jacket worn by Michael Jackson in his "Thriller" video went under the hammer for $1.8 million, a day after the second anniversary of the pop icon's death.

The jacket, which fetched several times its estimate of between $200,000 and $400,000, has "Love Michael Jackson" written on the sleeve, and a dedication in the lining to his long-time costume designers, to whom he gave it.

The buyer was identified as Milton Verret, a commodities trader from Austin Texas, who plans to have the jacket tour and be displayed at children's hospitals around the globe to raise money for their children's charities.

With their final pick of the 2011 draft, the Jackets chose goaltender Anton Forsberg 188th overall from the MODO system of the Swedish Elite league. Forsberg wasn't ranked by Central Scouting.

New goaltending coach Ian Clark put some work in as a consultant with MODO last season- MODO GM Markus Naslund knew Clark from their time together with the Canucks.

Lukas Sedlak, C Budejovice (Czech Republic)-- Good, solid defensive forward plays a North American-style game and doesn't score like Svihalek, but is a far better all-around forward. Thinks the game well and competes hard and finishes his checks. Has a soft touch on the puck and is good on faceoffs. Isn't a draft name, but could make some NHL team very happy in time-- has the attitude to be the kind of player who is more than the sum of his parts.
